Centro Properties was formed in 1978 when downtown pioneer Hap Veltman formed a partnership with Debra Maltz to manage and represent properties in central locations and surrounding neighborhoods. Hap was actively involved in a variety of real estate development project and brokerage in Central San Antonio.  Debra has been the final word in downtown residential leasing, sales, and management for the firm since its inception.

Debra navigates transactions seamlessly through demonstrated market knowledge and strategic negotiation skills.

Recognizing the importance of history and culture in her city, Debra’s commitment can be seen in her involvement with organizations that promote the quality of life in her community. A member of the Board for the Downtown Alliance, she applies her expertise of the area to its popular annual Urban Spaces Tour. As a host for SERVAS, an International peace organization, Debra opens her home to international guests interested in the heritage and culture of San Antonio. As a lover of making San Antonio a better place to live, Debra is an Awesome Foundation Trustee giving people monthly grants to make San Antonio more awesome.

Debra and her husband are also strong patrons of the arts as she sits on the Board of the music group SOLI Ensemble and is a season ticket holder to the Symphony. Together they have also raised two wonderful sons who follow in their parents’ interests for business and culture as one attended undergraduate studies at The Juilliard School and Cornell University where he obtained his Doctorate of Musical Arts and the other son graduated from The University of Texas, Business Honors program and is currently a private wealth financial advisor with Morgan Stanley.

Collin Newton

San Antonio native Collin Newton graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with a double major in History & Spanish. He began his career in 2014 at Trinity Real Estate Finance, where he assisted in the underwriting and closing of over $1B in commercial loans over seven years. He joined Centro Properties in 2021 to expand its commercial real estate presence. Collin is involved in property management, leasing, and sales of commercial properties.

Outside of work, you’ll typically find Collin enjoying the Pearl, Southtown, and Downtown San Antonio with his wife and their son. He is also an avid skier, loves crabbing in Galveston Bay, is an experienced world traveler, and is a huge sports enthusiast. Collin is a member of Urban Land Institute San Antonio, Alamo Kiwanis, Club Giraud and Town Club.
